August 25, 2014

Texas and Foreign PollutionLooks like Texas won’t seek potential EPA relief from offsetting foreign greenhouse gas pollution (see TCEQ Docket No. 2014-1017-PET).  The hearing is on the 10th.

Quotes from TCEQ Staff’s Recommended Denial:

— “[P]redicted effects of climate change on a local area are uncertain.”–TCEQ

— “The petitioner does not indicate specifically how Texas’ current or future ozone regulations will unfairly or unequally burden its citizens or businesses due to greenhouse gas emissions emanating from outside the state.”-TCEQ

—“The petitioner has not shown whether there is a scientific consensus about how greenhouse gases emitted from a foreign country may affect ozone concentrations in Texas.”–TCEQ
