British Updating Clean Air Act–Time to Update Our Own

February 26, 2013

BritishGuess who else is updating their Clean Air Act?  The British!  Even though the Clean Air Act in the UK is 3 years newer than the Clean Air Act in the U.S., here is what the UK’s Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs said in an initial review of their Clean Air Act:

“The overview from the meeting [. . .] was that the Act was completely outdated and needed a full overhaulAll the terminology needed clarifying or modernizing . . . .” (see link).

caaThe U.S. has not updated their Clean Air Act in over 22 years.  That’s 9 years longer than the Act has ever gone without an updating.

Time to join the Canadians and the British and update our Clean Air Act.  The world is changing.  We must change with it.  Time to transform the SIP process.  We can make it happen.
